HEAVY LIFT CIRCUIT IS STANDARD ON D-SERIES
Caterpillar’s three new mid-sized hydraulic excavators are the 320D L with a standard swing radius of9 feet (2.75 m), the 320D LRR with a reduced swing radius of 6 feet 7 inches (2.00 m) , and the 321D LCR with a compact radius of 5 feet 6 inches (1.68 m). Operating weights for the three models are: 47,554 pounds (21 570 kg); 53,361 pounds (24 200 kg); and 53,307 pounds (24 180 kg), respectively.
They feature the Cat C6.4 engine with 148 net hp (110 kW). The ADEM A4 electronic control module manages fuel delivery to get the best performance per unit of fuel used. The Standard Power Mode can reduce fuel consumption as much as eight percent when performing work that doesn’t require full power.
The excavators have about seven percent more engine power and increased hydraulic pressure for increased breakout force, greater lift force and increased drawbar pull, and faster cycle times. The heavy lift circuit is now standard on the D-Series.
The new machines also have more lift capacity, especially over the front, and drawbar pull is up about five percent.
