UVP TECHNOLOGY REDUCES VIBRATION BY UP TO 30 PERCENT

Hitachi Power Tools’ first low vibration grinders feature Hitachi’s patented User Vibration Protection (UVP) technology that reduces full-load tri-axial vibration by up to 30 percent, significantly decreasing end user fatigue. The G18SCY 7-inch and G23SCY 9-inch angle grinders feature vibration absorbing main and side handles, unique stator coils to improve cooling of the motors and new gear structures that dampen noise by up to 60 percent – all packaged into lightweight and ergonomically designed tools. Vibration is a hot topic in the power tool world these days – specifically the adverse health affects for the operator of the tool. The European market has been the first to take action to protect workers from Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (commonly referred to as “white finger” syndrome) by placing the responsibility on employers to minimize risk. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has recently adopted similar standards for measurement and exposure to vibration from hand-held power tools, but there are not any specific North American regulations at this time. Tool operator safety is a top priority for Hitachi. The problem is being addressed through technological innovation and improved design, resulting in Hitachi’s patented UVP technology which will make its way into many different tool categories in the near future.
