The new Caterpillar 450E Backhoe Loader is in the 17-foot dig depth class and is the largest backhoe loader in the Caterpillar line. The 450E has 124 net horsepower (92.5 kW) and a backhoe digging depth of 17 feet three inches (5.26 metres) when equipped with a standard stick. The new extendible stick pushes the 450E digging depth to 21 feet four inches (6.50 metres). The 450E has greater dig depth and greater digging forces than the model it replaces. The general purpose loader bucket is 1.75 cubic yards (1.34 cubic metres) capacity. The new extendible stick has an external slider design.
