CALL TO THE POST FOR 2008 APWA SNOW CONFERENCE
There won't be any horsing around in Louisville, Kentucky this April - just four days of the latest information for snowfighters from around North America.
The 48th annual APWA North American Snow Conference is the biggest yearly event in the snow and ice management industry, drawing more than 1,000 staffers from municipalities and contractors for four days of educational sessions, information sharing and displays.
This year's version will take place from April 13 to 16 at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, home of the Kentucky Derby. The centerpiece of the event is always the trade show floor. More than 120 companies are expected to take part in this year's version of the Snow Conference, offering up displays of large and small equipment, de-icing and anti-icing products, technology for monitoring road conditions, and many other products that make life easier for snowfighters while ensuring safety on the roads.
The Snow Conference is also about education, with more than 40 sessions scheduled through the four-day run of the event. Also on the agenda are technical tours that allow attendees to visit local projects. One tour visits the Louisville Underground, an old mine that has been adapted to act as a salt storage facility, among other roles. The other visits the Louisville Regional Airport Authority maintenance facility, which manages snow removal for the Louisville International Airport, the busy all-points hub for UPS.
