CONTINUOUS, CONTACT-FREE, PATIENT SUPERVISION SYSTEM
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement estimates that 2.5 million people are unnecessarily harmed in hospitals in the U.S. each year. “The future of patient care in the general ward of hospitals worldwide is quickly approaching a major turning point with the introduction of a brand new segment of medical devices specifically designed for patient supervision,” said EarlySense CEO, Avner Halperin. “Early detection of potential crises and proactive care is crucial to securing better outcomes for hospitalized patients. However, this requires ongoing supervision of patient status and integration with other information systems in the patient’s environment.” EarlySense’s EverOn is a continuous, contact-free, patient supervision system that measures patient parameters from under the patient’s mattress. There are no leads or cuffs to connect to the patient, who has complete freedom of movement and is not burdened by any irritating attachments. EverOn detects heart and respiration rates as well as bed entries and exits, and patient movement. The device sounds an alert when a pre-set parameter threshold is crossed. EverOn also displays and records real time data on a continuous time line. The time line is designed to help predict the deterioration of a patient’s health and consequently avert a critical event.
