Topcon and Sokkia combine worldwide
Two leading manufacturers of precision surveying instruments – Topcon Corporation and Sokkia Co., Ltd., both with corporate headquarters in Japan – have combined.
Combining the two companies creates the world’s leading supplier of surveying instruments, Topcon reported. Both companies provide turnkey positioning solutions for surveyors worldwide.

Trimble has acquired Crain Enterprises, Inc. of Mound City, Illinois, in an all-cash transaction. Crain is a leading manufacturer of accessories for the geomatics, surveying, mapping, and construction industries.

Case loader/backhoe sales contest winners
Case Construction Equipment announced eight winners in its 50th Anniversary Loader/Backhoe sales contest. Four Case dealer sales representatives won for selling the most loader/backhoes in their region during 2007. Case selected the other four winners in a random drawing. Each of the eight dealer sales representatives won a three-year lease on a new Ford F-150 pickup truck. In the Canadian region, Gil-berte Faucher of Brisson Equipment had the highest number of loader/backhoe sales and B.J. Cross of Hammer Equipment was selected in the random drawing.
Plad Equipement to represent Varsico
Plad Equipement ltée has agreed to represent Varsico S.p.A., manufacturer of self-priming centrifugal pumps for liquids with solids in suspension from 1½ to 12 inches, and positive displacement pumps for liquids of all viscosities from ½ to 10 inches. These pumps are used extensively on construction projects and dewatering systems including sewer by-pass. Plad Equipement ltée has offices and manufacturing/service facilities located across Canada, from Quebec City, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto to Vancouver.
A new company emerges – Wacker Neuson
Wacker Construction Equipment, parent company of Wacker Corporation, and Neu-son Kramer Baumaschinen have merged. Together they form a major global manufacturer of light and compact equipment with a comprehensive product portfolio.
In Canada and the U.S., Wacker Neuson will now offer a new line of compact class equipment that includes wheel loaders, excavators and dumpers, as well as continue to support and expand its complete line of light and climate control equipment.
Echo Canada wins award
Echo Power Equipment (Canada) was honoured with the “Schiller Pfeiffer Inc. Distributor of the Year” award. The award was presented for significant increase in Little Wonder, Mantis and Classen sales growth over the previous year.
