IMPRESSIVE DIGGING FORCES AND OPERATOR CONTROL
The new SK260LC Acera Mark 8 hydraulic excavator from Kobelco Construction Machinery features intelligent technology that provides precision control for fine grading and levelling applications. The SK260LC also delivers more horsepower, improved hydraulic flow and an impressive combination of bucket force, swing torque and drawbar pull forces. Powered by a 181 hp turbocharged fuel-injected engine that is Tier III certified, the SK260LC has an operating weight of 57,300 pounds, digs to 23 feet and provides a maximum reach of 33 feet 3 inches at ground line.
The SK260LC features an industry-exclusive Intelligent Total Control System (ITCS) that recognizes the operator’s moves and provides incredibly smooth hydraulic response. The auto-acceleration system on the SK260LC increases engine rpms and hydraulic flow in proportion to the operator’s movement of the control levers, resulting in even acceleration for precise operations. To extend engine life and reduce fuel costs, the auto-deceleration system reduces engine rpms after four seconds of operator inactivity. “To meet Tier III engine requirements, the SK260LC is equipped with a proven 6-cylinder Iveco by FPT diesel engine with intercooler turbocharger,” said Paul Golevicz, brand marketing manager at Kobelco. “The engine features 597 ft-lbs of net torque at 1,200 rpm, which is a 14 percent increase in engine torque. Swing torque on the new machine has also been increased by 10 percent, making it much easier to move heavy loads.” The new excavator features a power mode system with four power modes to match the operator’s specific work operations. H Mode (default mode) provides priority to the workload at high speed and is ideal for heavy-duty excavation work. S Mode provides fuel savings and is ideal for standard digging and loading work. B Mode is designed for breaker work (1-way hydraulic flow). And A Mode is ideal for demolition work with crusher/nibbler (2-way/2-pump flow).
The power boost system on the SK260LC provides 10 percent more power on command for increased bucket breakout force, without time limitations. The new excavator also provides outstanding drawbar pull force – with a 3,400 pound increase –giving the operator confidence to climb a grade under heavy load.
The 7-position suspension seat can be adjusted to fit the comfort requirements of nearly every operator. Viscous silicon cab mounts help to minimize vibration and shock to the cab.
To reduce maintenance time and boost productivity, most routine service checks on the SK260LC can be performed easily from ground level, with access to filters, batteries and hydraulics. Side-by-side radiator, oil cooler and intercooler are also easily accessible for inspection and cleaning. “Because the systems are independent, the radiator can be removed for service without the need to drain the hydraulic system,” Golevicz said.
The SK260LC Acera Mark 8 is designed for applications requiring maximum power, from digging trenches and carrying and setting pipe and trench boxes, to backfilling, clearing sites and loading trucks.
