INNOVATIVE HIGH FREQUENCY DESIGN
The Volvo DD-118HF and the DD-138HF compactors increase production through an innovative high frequency design. They can keep pace with pavers moving at faster speeds, assist in reaching target densities in higher temperature zones and allow fine-tuning of drum energy for differing materials and changing conditions by use of Volvo’s exclusive eight-amplitude technology. The operator is able to precisely control the optimal rolling speed for the desired drum impact spacing using an easy-to-read, colour-coded gauge.
SMART start system, exclusive to Volvo, has the lead drum vibrate first and the trailing drum begin to vibrate at the same place as the lead drum to produce consistent mat quality and density.
The DD-118HF has a vibration frequency of 3,400 vpm, and an industry-leading maximum centrifugal force of 42,680 pounds. The DD-138HF has a vibration frequency of 3,200 vpm, and a maximum centrifugal force of 42,260 pounds. Operating weights are is 27,670 pounds and 30,325 pounds, respectively.
