DRILL RIGS, COMPRESSORS AND GENERATORS
With the difficulty contractors are having finding expert drillers, the automation on the new series of Atlas Copco SmartRig drills (shown) offer a definite benefit. The Portable Air Division is focusing on the biggest introduction in the compressor market in the last few months: the HardHat 185 cfm compressor. In just the last half of 2007, the popularity of the 185 cfm size has surprised everyone. Since its introduction, sales are 2:1 over the steel canopy version.
TwinAir series compressors are another big hit since their global introduction a couple of months ago. Designed to support the oil and gas drilling market, the orders coming in for construction-related ground engineering and foundation companies are equaling those of deep hole drilling companies.
Atlas Copco is making a dedicated effort to engineering and model introductions in the generator product line and this show is a big kick off for those products, featuring the newly redesigned QAX 24 and QAS 150 models.
