Separate pumps for steering and implements

SEPARATE PUMPS FOR STEERING AND IMPLEMENTS

Caterpillar's D6T track-type tractor offers superior maneuverability through utilization of separate hydraulic pumps supplying power to steering and implements. The D6T also offers the Multi Velocity Program (MVP), an innovative machine control system that provides the operator a selection of five speed ranges and automated speed control for productive performance in different conditions.

The D6T retains the proven C9 engine with ACERT Technology, planetary pow-ershift transmission, differential steering system, SystemOne undercarriage, and the AccuGrade grade control system. The D6T continues to be offered with several different undercarriage options for matching the machine to the job. The engine meets worldwide emissions standards and delivers 185 horsepower (138 kW) at the flywheel in the D6T with standard undercarriage. For longer and wider undercarriage configu-rations, the C9 delivers 200 horsepower (149 kW). D6T operating weights range from 40,550 pounds (18 393 kg) to 50,968 pounds (23 119 kg), dependent on the undercarriage configuration and dozer blade. The D6T replaces the D6R Series III. The new two-pump hydraulic system powers the steering system with one pump and the implement circuit with another pump. The result is quick and powerful steering performance independent of implement operation. The system also enhances blade response when using a machine control and guidance system.

To further increase productivity, the MVP system allows operators to choose from five different speed ranges in both forward and reverse. The result is a good match of machine speed to the application and ground conditions. Each speed range has been optimized to provide the best performance, fuel economy and drawbar pull. Full engine power is maintained in every speed to provide a smooth, comfortable and productive machine.

The D6T is equipped with the Caterpillar C9 engine with ACERT Technology. The C9 has 8.8 litres (537 cubic inches) displacement and is an inline six cylinder. The engine uses the ADEM A4 advanced electronic controller and hydraulically actuated electronic fuel injection, or HEUI, fuel injection for precise fuel delivery, resulting in outstanding lugging performance and lower emissions.
