The turf-friendly Scout SC-50

THE TURF-FRIENDLY SCOUT SC-50

ASV, a manufacturer of rubber track loaders, has introduced their all new Scout SC-50, the only rubber tracked utility vehicle on the market. “We have been developing the Scout for nearly four years and we’ve integrated components from our time-tested Posi-Track machines,” said Brad Lemke, director of new product development at ASV. “With only 2.5 psi under the tracks, the Scout has less impact on the ground than a person on foot. This is the perfect machine for turf professionals, park managers, landscape professionals, state trail maintenance officials and many other services.” The Scout’s undercarriage features the same patented Posi-Track technology used in ASV’s earthmoving equipment. The combination of suspension, all-rubber track, 10 rubber wheels that disperse weight across a 15-inch wide track and a uniquely designed sprocket with roller system provide the machine with a smooth, quiet and very efficient operation unlike any other utility vehicle. The undercarriage suspension provides comfort for the operator and passenger, while also providing load retention in the bed. “The Scout is highly maneuverable,” says Lemke. “Low ground pressure means minimal surface disturbance, plus minimal compaction to protect fragile root systems and underground utilities like irrigation lines.” With a travel speed of 11.5 mph, a fuel capacity of 30 gallons and low ground pressure, users can travel further, work harder and carry more compared to any other utility vehicle available – all with minimal damage to the ground.

Powered by a Perkins 404C-22 diesel engine that features four in-line cylinders, a peak torque of 105 feet per pound and a displacement of 134 inches, operators will be sure to have the power and reliability for any situation.

The Scout also features a smooth hydrostatic drive that is operated by a special “Quick-Shift” two-way pedal – one side for forward and the other side for reverse. No shifting is required. The body of the Scout also features two headlights and one rear light for work on the platform. “The sky’s the limit when it comes to attachments and features,” says Lemke. “The Scout offers an auxiliary hydraulic system for front- or rear-mount hydraulic attachments such as a snow blade, dump box and a variety of other innovative attachments that are in development.” The optional auxiliary hydraulic system is a 16.3 gallon-per-minute system with quick connect fittings controlled by a joystick located inside the cab, making the hydraulic system easy and convenient.

A dump box option on the Scout provides exceptional utility (3,300 pounds) and capacity (over 35 cubic feet), roughly twice that of the largest wheeled utility vehicle. The dump box also features easy-on, easy-off operation and is designed with integrated frame and lift cylinder for quick installation. Side board holders are built in for increased capacity of light materials. “The Scout also features a front and back receiver hitch,” says Lemke. “The receiver hitch can be utilized to pull implements such as mowers, sprayers and other attachments. The Scout can also be fitted with smooth tracks for work on improved turf or other fragile surfaces
